Our West Palm Beach Materials Recovery Facility

In October of 2019, SMR, now operating as Balcones Recycling, became the operator of the Palm Beach County, Florida Material Recovery Facility (MRF). The dual stream recycling facility is owned by the Solid Waste Authority (SWA) of Palm Beach County and processes 8 to 9K tons per month of residential and commercial recyclables. In 2021, SMR oversaw a major upgrade of the facility on behalf of SWA and increased the capacity of the facility’s container line from 15 to 20 tons per hour.

How to Recycle

The decisions we make when placing items in the recycling bin have a big impact. Recycling right helps processors recover more resources from the waste stream, and depositing the wrong items has the opposite effect. We have compiled resources, from how-tos to useful links, to help navigate all the information about recycling right.
